Southwestern BDC to host bookkeeping workshop

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Business Development Center is offering a two-part workshop in February designed to help current and potential business owners establish and maintain simple sets of books on the cash basis.

The Simplified Bookkeeping Workshop – scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 13 in North Bend – will cover basic bookkeeping concepts including setting up a manual bookkeeping system, establishing the books of original entry and recording business transactions. Instructor Mike Gordon, CPA, will show participants how and when to computerize accounting systems, and well as the differences between cash and accrual basis accounting. Tips to make records “goof proof” also will be discussed.
