Southwestern offers Oregon geology course in Curry County

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering a Rocks and Minerals of Oregon course in Curry County during Winter Term.

The course will cover the nature, origin and use of minerals and semi-precious minerals and concentrates on identification, sampling and collecting methods of common rock forming materials and semi-precious minerals located in Oregon. The class is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays from Jan. 24 through Feb. 28, with two local field trips to be scheduled. Cost is $57.
