RSVP plans night to honor senior volunteers

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Retired and Senior Volunteers Program volunteers who combined to give more than 100,000 hours of community service over the past year are planning a Volunteer Appreciating Gala in May.

The event – scheduled at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, at The Mill Casino-Hotel – is designed to thank RSVP seniors for helping on more than 125 organizations, supplying the community more than 50 full-time workers and more than $1.75 million in services that otherwise could not be provided.

The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is free to RSVP volunteers, and the costs are paid through sponsorships from the business community and the organizations within which RSVP volunteers serve. A silent auction also is planned at the event. Sponsorships and donations to RSVP are tax deductible through its sponsor, Southwestern.

Sponsorships are available for $150, and sponsors receive two tickets to the event; recognition on table signs, the banner and program at the event; and post-event recognition in a full-page ad printed in The World newspaper and The Volunteer newsletter, reaching approximately 44,600 readers. Golden Tier contributors donate $500 or more to RSVP and receive the sponsorship recognition – along with additional perks such as mention on the elite Golden Tier banner at the event and appearing in large print on the full-page ad afterwards – as well as four tickets.

For more information about the event or to make a donation, those interested can call RSVP at 888-7332.
