OCCI to host international food and travel writers group

Oregon Coast Culinary Institute will be looking to make a positive impression this fall when it hosts International Food and Wine Travel Writers Association representatives for two dinner events.

The dinners, scheduled for Oct. 11 and 17, will be hosted by OCCI faculty and staff members, as well as students. The events each will include several IFWTWA members, as well as their guests. The IFWTWA is hosting a conference in Ashland and the Bay Area is one of the day trip destinations that will be available for individuals seeking to visit the South Coast. Southwestern and OCCI staff members are working with Coos Bay-North Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau Director of Promotions & Conventions Katherine Hoppe in order to make the visit a success.

The IFWTWA is a global network of individuals involved in the hospitality and lifestyle fields and the people who promote them by informing others about them. The non-profit organization was founded in Paris in 1954 and its members include journalists, broadcasters, photographers, culinary professionals, public relations professionals, tourist boards and others. They contribute to media outlets all over the world, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Miami Herald, as well as regional publications, Internet sites and consumer and trade magazines including Travel & Leisure, Town & Country, Elle, Gourmet, Bon Appetit and Food Arts.
