Southwestern sets Nursing Assistant class in Brookings

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering a Basic Nursing Assistant class starting March 5 in Brookings.

Curry County students interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to stop by one of the Southwestern locations in Curry County to pick up the BNA application packet and calendar. Space is limited to 10 students, selected on a first come, first served basis.

BNA students are required to take a college basic academic placement exam, provide proof of immunizations and a current CPR card and pass a criminal background check. Students who successfully complete the class are eligible to take Oregon’s Certified Nursing Assistant exam for licensure.

BNA classes are scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays for varying hours at the Curry Good Samaritan Center in Brookings and include both lecture and clinical practices. The class starts March 5 and continues for 12 weeks. Applications are due by Feb. 28. Cost of the class is approximately $700 including tuition, fees, books and supplies.
