Southwestern closes land transfer for Curry Campus

Southwestern Oregon Community College recently reached a firm agreement with Rio Tinto Minerals – the parent company of U.S. Borax – relative to a deed to 10 acres of land north of Brookings earmarked for a Curry County Campus.

First focus group meetings and master planning will begin with architects Crow/Clay Associates with discussions to include master planning for the new Curry County Campus. Plans at this time for the new site include a full-time practical nursing program, coursework for on-site associate degrees and additional programming to meet community needs.

The master planning process for the new Curry County location will focus on identifying community needs for the new campus site. The current satellite campuses in Gold Beach and Port Orford will continue to operate at their current locations. A ground-breaking celebration will be scheduled once a date is selected this spring and that event will kick off the College’s 46th-anniversary celebration.
