EOU offers course on communicating with the dying

Eastern Oregon University plans to offer a regional course titled “Conversations with the Dying: Cross Cultural Perspectives on the End of Life” at the University Center, located on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus in Coos Bay.

Pre-registration is required for the course, which has been approved for seven Continuing Education Units by several counseling, therapy and social work organizations. The purpose of the course is to prepare, inspire and support ministers, health care professionals, behavioral health specialists and volunteers to communicate with those who are dying. Emphasis will be placed on the interpersonal communication skills necessary for relating to others in the situation of death.

The instructor is Dee McDonald and the class is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 3 and 4, at Tioga Hall, room 318, on the Southwestern campus. Tuition for the course is $296 and space is limited to 25 students.
