Don’t feel like going out? Bring the chefs to you

Two Oregon Coast Culinary Institute chefs will be giving community members the opportunity to bid for their services at a private dinner party at the Baking and Pastry Arts Club’s “An Evening of Chocolate and Wine” event scheduled next week.

The semi-formal evening event focusing on two hot Valentine’s Day commodities – chocolate and wine – also will include silent auctions for desserts and wine, as well as a live auction for a full-course dinner prepared by OCCI Executive Director Shawn Hanlin and Baking and Pastry Arts Program Director Kevin Shaw. The chefs will combine expertise to provide a multi-course dinner – including dessert – for a party of 10 at the winning bidder’s home. In addition, Baking and Pastry Arts students will be auctioning off a dessert catering for 10 people.

The club is preparing hand-crafted desserts, to be accompanied by a varied selection of wines from the Hawk’s View Winery near Myrtle Point. This fabulous evening of chocolate, wine and the enchanting music of a string quartet from the Southwestern Music Department is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 9 at OCCI on the Southwestern Oregon Community College Coos Bay campus. Tickets are available for $30 individually or $50 for couples. Proceeds benefit OCCI Baking and Pastry Arts Club activities and trips.
