Bandon Dunes GM presents gift to SOCC Foundation

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort General Manager Hank Hickox recently presented the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation with a generous donation from the Mike and Lindy Keizer Fund at Oregon Community Foundation.

The unrestricted donation of $17,000 comes from a charitable fund started by Bandon Dunes Golf Resort owner Mike Keizer. Aside from formally presenting the check to the Southwestern Foundation in March, Hickox also joined the Foundation Board of Trustees.

“It’s an unrestricted gift and I think that’s noteworthy,” Foundation Board President Dick Vigue said. “We on the Foundation take it as a compliment that they trust we will do what’s best.”

The Southwestern Foundation supports numerous student, college and community endeavors each year on the South Coast. The Foundation provided $41,410 in scholarships last year and has supported several major endeavors on campus, including endowments, construction projects, equipment and other priorities of the college. Foundation activities over the past year have included supporting student trips for activities in the drama and music programs, sponsoring the Vision 2007 high school art competition and participating in a community anti-methamphetamine campaign.
