Healing with Food series continues in BrookingsSouthwestern Oregon Community College is offering a lecture in Brookings this month focusing on the healing power of food. The “Food is the Best Medicine” series is scheduled to continue from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at The Gallery Restaurants, 515 Chetco Ave., in Brookings. Macrobiotic centers like the Kushi Institute in Becket, Mass., and the former George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation in Oroville, Calif., have reversed every type of malady ranging from allergies to cancer using food alone since the 1960s. “The ancients understood the links between spirit and matter,” instructor Peter Osterhaus said. “George Ohsawa interpreted this wisdom for our times. Western Science is still trying to grasp the overall pattern.” Cost to participate is $36 per student and includes a reference binder and medicinal teas. For more information or to register, those interested can visit the Southwestern Brookings Center, 420 Alder St., in Brookings or call (541) 469-5017. The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Press Release Date: March 8 , 2007
