Southwestern president discusses trip to BrazilSouthwestern Oregon Community College President Dr. Judith Hansen outlined her recent trip to Brazil to strengthen Sister College relationships the College enjoys in South America for the College Board of Education at its regular meeting on Monday night. Hansen, who spent most of last week in Brazil with Southwestern Board Chairwoman Marcia Jensen, reported positive outcomes from the visit. Hansen and Jensen visited Universidad Metodista De Piracicaba, Universidad Metodista De Sao Paulo and Universidad de Sao Paulo to build relationships with those institutions and improve Southwestern’s international element for its students. They began discussions with Universidad Metodista De Piracicaba regarding collaborative opportunities for studies in health, business, computing and the English Language Institute at Southwestern. At Sao Paulo, they discussed collaborative efforts with the institutions’ horticulture programs and paved the way for future talks regarding alternative energy. At Universidad Metodista De Sao Paulo, they talked about ways to collaborate efforts in the areas of Service Learning opportunities and Early Childhood Education, as well as participation in ELI.
