Southwestern Board to hold the line on tuition, feesThe Southwestern Oregon Community College Board of Education joined counterparts at institutions around the state by making a declaration to freeze tuition and fees. At its regular meeting on March 19, the Board voted unanimously to send a message to the College Budget Committee – which is scheduled to meet May 14 – reaffirming the Board’s intention not to increase tuition or fees for the upcoming fiscal year. Board Member David Bridgham asked the Board to consider passing such a resolution during his report on Oregon Community College Association activities. Many community college boards around the state are passing similar resolutions to demonstrate that with increased state funding for community colleges they will not need to generate revenue by increasing tuition and fees.
