Southwestern, Egyptian Theatre join forces for concertThe Southwestern Oregon Community College Music Department is teaming up with the Egyptian Theatre to provide an entertaining evening of music for the community. The Southwestern Music Department is planning its annual Winter Term concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay. The concert will feature performances by the Southwestern saxophone quartet, Saxability, as well as the college jazz choir, chamber choir, orchestra and jazz band. A septet named Snowball’s Chance also will be performing. The ensembles will be performing pieces such as Lullaby of Bird Land, It Don’t Mean a Thing, Someone to Watch Over Me, Lord of the Dance, Eleanor Rigby, Cry Me a River, Lonesome Road, My Heart’s in the Highlands and many more. Tickets for this memorable show are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Proceeds will help support the Southwestern Music Department and the local theater. There also will be a canned food drive for the local food bank, so participants are encouraged to bring boxed or canned foods to donate. Press Release Date: March 15 , 2007
