Relationship Speaker at Southwestern

Nationally renowned relationship speaker Ellen Gootblatt will speak on "Meeting, Dating, Relating, and Mating" on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hales Center for Performing Arts at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Gootblatt lectures at over 100 colleges each year, enlightening and entertaining audiences of all ages about what to look for in a healthy relationship. The free lecture is sponsored by Associated Student Government and Residence Life here at Southwestern.

Gootblatt taught English for 22 years to junior and senior high school students in the New York City area and helped develop a class, "How to Be a Terrific Human Being." She hosted a top-rated ABC radio talk show about relationships, broadcast in 39 states, where she interviewed celebrities such as George Carlin, Lucille Ball, and Kris Kristofferson. Gootblatt is also the author of several books, including Men are Worth the Trouble: Translating, Understanding, and Celebrating Men, and Meeting, Dating, Relating, and Mating: 250 Important Questions to Ask Before You Go Further in a Relationship.

Gootblatt has given her popular lectures at Southwestern several times, always bringing something new to share with her listeners. Her talk in the PAC on April 24, 2008 will focus on identifying qualities of successful - and unsuccessful - relationships. A warm, spontaneous speaker, Gootblatt relates well to both singles and couples.
