Silverhawk set to perform at Southwestern
The concert is being put on in conjunction with the Spring Preview weekend for potential Southwestern students and will benefit the Oregon Coast Community Action South Coast Food Share. The band, which began as a folk duo from Coos Bay featuring brothers Sam Densmore and John Densmore who take turns on bass, guitar and vocals, also includes Rob Allison, also a Coos Bay native, on drums and vocals, as well as Anthony Cotham on keyboards and vocals and guest vocalist Laura Densmore. Silverhawk is celebrating its third release, “Hangover Bicycle Ride” on the MastanMusic label. The CD has been aired on Oregon Public Broadcasting, as well as on more than 20 live 365 Internet radio stations and podcasts. Silverhawk’s latest release follows two other nationally released recordings – “Flowers in June” (Pop Sweatship, 2001) and “Westward” (Blue Eyed Crow, 2004) – which both have garnered national attention with reviews appearing in CMJ, Delusions of Adequacy and Amplifier magazines. The band also has produced one video, “Keeping it Surreal” (MastanMusic, 2001). Silverhawk has played more than 1,000 tour dates with Northwest rock greats such as Frank Black, Screaming Trees, The Posies and Richmond Fontaine. The price for admission to the event is $5 along with a can of food to be donated to the South Coast Food Share. Southwestern students get in free with a student identification card, and refreshments will be available for purchase at the event. Lighting for the event is sponsored by Performance Sound & Music. Press Release Date: April 10, 2008
