College Relay for Life fund-raiser focuses on sewing

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Relay for Life team is hosting a Sew-In for a Cure event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Oregon Coast Culinary Institute.

Participants will have the opportunity to knit, quilt, sew, crochet, stitch and scrapbook with other hobbyists at the all-day event, designed to raise money for the Southwestern Relay for Life team to be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Organizers are planning quilting demonstrations and a “Show and Tell” session, as well as door prizes and food and drinks. Lunch will be provided, and participants are asked to bring necessary items for their activities, including sewing machines, extension cords, power strips and other project supplies.
