Southwestern to host Methane Energy presentationMethane Energy Corporation President Steve Pappajohn will be talking on “The Search for Natural Gas in the Coos Bay Basin: Energy and the Environment in 21st Century Oregon” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus in Coos Bay. The topic will be the what, why, where, when and how of current energy exploration activities currently being conducted in Coos County. Following the talk, there will be a question and answer session with Pappajohn and other representatives of Methane Energy Corporation including Loran Wiese, MEC public and community relations officer; Peggy Halferty, Environmental Partners Inc. manager of environmental affairs; and David May, MEC vice president of exploration. This free event – sponsored by the Southwestern Geology Department and Geology Club – is open to the public.
