Southwestern golfers turns in solid day on linksThe Southwestern Oregon Community College men’s and women’s golf teams each finished in the top four among tough competition May 6 and 7 at the Southwestern Invitational at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The Southwestern women’s team wound up third with a two-day total of 549 on the Lakers’ home course. Concordia wound up taking the tournament title with 521 and Spokane was second with 546. Concordia’s Lindsay Aho took medalist honors, shooting 165 over two days. Jessica Marcum was the top Southwestern finisher, taking fifth with a 175. On the men’s side, the Lakers picked up fourth place among 13 complete teams with a total score of 655. Walla Walla took the team title with a tally of 629 over the two days. Columbia Basin finished second with 641 and Spokane wrapped up third with 654, edging the Lakers by just one stroke. Walla Walla’s Adam Aldredge took medalist honors. Sean Free was the top individual finisher for the Lakers, tying for fourth place.
