Southwestern to host Storyline workshop for teachers

Southwestern Oregon Community College and Storyline Design will be presenting a Scottish Storyline Design Workshop for K-12 teachers and adult education instructors July 16 through 20 at the Southwestern campus in Coos Bay.

Storyline is a structured approach to learning and teaching developed in Scotland that builds on using learners’ enthusiasm for story-making to make learning meaningful and memorable. It provides opportunities for active learning and reflection as essential parts of effective learning and teaching. Storyline builds on pupils’ existing experience and knowledge while encouraging involvement. It also uses a significant degree of imaginative and practical problem solving.

Workshops are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 16 through 20, at Southwestern. Housing is available on the Southwestern campus. Participants can receive three credits from Portland State University by attending the workshop for $653. Those who wish to attend for no university credit may do so for $500.
