Southwestern announces GED graduation

Commencement exercises for this year’s Southwestern Oregon Community College GED graduates are scheduled at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 13, in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Coos Bay Campus.

Southwestern Board Chair Lonny Anderson and Board Member Marcia Jensen, as well as President Dr. Judith Hansen and GED graduate Ernestine Brannon, will speak to the 26 GED completers who are planning to participate in the ceremony. A reception with refreshments will follow for the graduates and their families, as well as community members, at 5 p.m. at Oregon Coast Culinary Institute.

Of this year’s graduates, Kristen Moore and Jimmye Owens have earned scores between 500 and 649 on the test and will receive one-term tuition waivers to begin college-level studies at Southwestern. Tiffany Barkley, James Barnes, Brannon, Chalice Closen, Corey Nielsen, Katheryn Sands and Alexandra Taylor scored at least 650 on the test and will receive six-term tuition waivers for their college studies at Southwestern.

The 2008 Southwestern Oregon Community College GED graduates include: Ryan Alarcon, Tiffany Barkley, James Barnes, Ernestine Brannon, Mindy Clemons, Chalice Closen, Zolboo Enkhbayar, Kymbreyona Hampton, Jason Hughlett, Teresa Jones, Naomi Knight, Angelica Kreuger, Jennifer Liggett, Jessica Lupher, Kristen Moore, Shaun Moore, Douglas Morrison, Jonathan Nanninga, Corey Nielsen, Tyler Pickerill, Kaylee Prozialeck, Jimmye Owens, Sarah Rogers, Katheryn Sands, Alexandra Taylor, Brian Watson.
