Southwestern reaches out to GED preparation studentsThe Southwestern Oregon Community College Adult Learning Skills Program is reaching out to offer opportunities for students to prepare for the GED exam regardless of location or availability of transportation. GED preparation classes are scheduled in Coos Bay, as well as in Myrtle Point and online, to accommodate interested learners in Coos County. The online classes follow the quarter system, with Summer Term beginning June 23, and allow participants to complete GED exam preparation from their homes. Those who participate in the online course must participate in the assessment process and be 18 or older and/or have a school release. Myrtle Point classes are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, June 23 through Aug. 14, at the Maple Education Center, 413 C St., in Myrtle Point. Coos Bay classes also are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, June 23 through Aug. 14, at the Newmark Center in Coos Bay. All courses cost $25 per term, which also allows participants to take part in all Adult Learning Skills Program offerings for the term. For more information or to sign up, those interested can contact Jackie Hansford at 888-7116. Press Release Date: June 19, 2008
