Foundation dedicates benches in honor of instructor

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation is hosting a dedication ceremony for the Helen Ferguson Memorial benches at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, in the quad on the Coos Bay campus.

Ferguson was involved in the establishment of Southwestern and taught business at the college for 20 years, beginning in 1961. Her office was located in Randolph Hall on the Coos Bay campus, and she was very active as a student advisor and yoga instructor. Her children and grandchildren will be present at the event, which is open for community members.
