Southwestern's Board of Education

Citizens of the college district are represented in all aspects of the college operation by the Board of Education - seven men and women elected by the residents of the college district. The Board, assisted by four ex-officio Board members representing the students, faculty, and classified staff, determines the policies to be administered by the college President. A seven-member, appointed Budget Committee assists the Board with annual budget preparation.

1.     Collaborate with the Southwestern Foundation Board to: 

        ·       Support and participate in Foundation activities

        ·       Increase unrestricted donations

        ·       Participate as scholarship readers

2.      Review and revise board policies on a three-year cycle

3.     Complete the Facilities Master Plan to:

        ·       Finalize the document

        ·       Prioritize the first 5-years of the Master Plan

4.     Monitor Johnson Controls and Umpqua Hall Construction

5.     Debt retirement planning

6.     Support and monitor community enhancement efforts (outlying Douglas, Curry, Coos counties)
