Leadership

The Board of Education represents all citizens of the Southwestern Oregon Community College District, which comprises Curry, Coos and western Douglas counties on the south Oregon coast.

District voters elect these seven people to serve four-year terms. This Board determines the policies to govern the college’s operations. The Board also hires and supervises the college president. President Dr. Patty Scott then oversees operations. The Board also is assisted by four ex-officios representing the students, faculty, and classified staff.

A seven-member, appointed Budget Committee assists the Board of Education with annual budget preparation. The Board approves major expenditures. Each of the members also participates in college and community events.
